Regatta Master 2007 is here!

The first commercial release of Regatta Master was version 3.0.  It's debut in September 2002 was the end of 4 years of development and field testing .... and the beginning of several more years of refinement, enhancements, and corrections.

After 5 years of faithful service, Regatta Master 3.0 is retiring.  It's replacement is Regatta Master 2007 (version 3.1).

Regatta Master 2007 has a number of improvements inherent in the newer version of Access, as well as improved user interface and stability:

1.       Access 2007 is more stable than Access XP.  There were a number of functions in Regatta Master 3.0 that caused unrecoverable errors.  These were intermittent and remained unfixed as of the latest 3.0 revision, 136. 

2.      Attaching databases is a much faster operation, about 6 times faster than the previous version.

3.      A new form feature called ‘anchoring’ allows scrollable regions (such as the list of events in the Regatta window) to stretch as the window is sized vertically.  This allows more detail records to be displayed.  In the prior versions, the same number of detail records were displayed if the window was stretched vertically, leaving a blank space.

4.      Most date fields have a built-in calendar control, which displays to the right of the field, making date edits easier.

5.      Access 2007, through a distributed add-in, has built-in support for creating PDF and XPS files from the Print Preview and Print Options toolbars.

6.      The navigation interface has been updated from a menu to a ribbon bar, in keeping with the new UI design in Office 2007.  This makes the user navigation more visual and intuitive.

7.      Regatta Master 2007 no longer has a limited ‘trial’ period.  Instead, the software runs in ‘unregistered’ mode until registered.  The only limitation in 'unregistered' mode is that reports can only be previewed, not printed or exported to file.

8.   Regatta Master 2007 is compatible with Windows Vista.

9.   Regatta Master 2007 is no longer distributed on CD, but is a downloadable executable installation file (70Mb).  This makes distribution, installation and deployment much easier and simpler.

In addition, a number of minor issues reported by users have been addressed.
